Washington. ITT Corp. pleaded guilty to selling night-vision technology to countries including China, making it the largest U.S. contractor convicted of violating the Arms Export Control Act, the Washington Post reports.

Attorney Firings. Senate Judiciary Chairman Patrick Leahy, D-Vt., sent a letter to Attorney General Alberto Gonzales demanding to know if several top aides who might be called as witnesses were still DOJ employees, CongressDailyAM (subscription) reports.

Congress. Senate Democrats racked up enough support to defeat a GOP amendment that would have stripped a troop withdrawal deadline from an Iraq funding bill, the Washington Post reports.

Pentagon. The family of Army Ranger Pat Tillman is not satisfied with a report on the former NFL player's friendly-fire death in Afghanistan, and has promised not to let up on DOD in their effort to get at the truth, the Los Angeles Times and
NPR
report.

Iraq. Following a recent trip to Iraq, retired Army Gen. Barry McCaffrey warned that Iraq is in a civil war and that the United States must seek a political solution, Army Times reports. McCaffrey sent his summation of the situation to more than 65 officials, including Gen. David Petraeus, the top U.S. commander in Iraq.

Iran. Prime Minister Tony Blair's government continued to issue stern warnings to Tehran on the detention of 15 British sailors, and released evidence to bolster its claim that the sailors were not in Iranian waters when their ship was seized, the London Guardian reports. And Reuters reports that Turkish diplomats may be allowed to visit the sailors in Iran.
