Earlybird Roundup: London Terror Threat, Bush's Defeat

Terrorism. London is on alert after a car bomb was discovered and dismantled outside a nightclub.

Washington. The Republican revolt against a comprehensive immigration proposal is yet another sign of President Bush's waning influence in his own party.

Iraq. Army Lt. Gen. Douglas Lute is confirmed as Washington's "war czar" as five U.S. soldiers are killed while patrolling Baghdad.

Education. Public schools will likely use income as a marker for diversity (subscription) following a Supreme Court ruling limiting the consideration of race in student distribution.

Myanmar. The Red Cross has taken the rare step of publicly calling out the Myanmar government for its human rights abuses, accusing officials of facilitating "immense suffering."
