The Moment Clinton Fans Have Been Waiting For

Results from Hillary Rodham Clinton's official song contest are in, and...

... Celine Dion's "You and I" is the winner.
Celine Dion
The main page of her Web site features a video of Clinton entering a diner and sitting down at a booth. Bill slides in opposite her, and -- after he's expressed some disappointment with the basket of carrot sticks on the table -- they flip through a mini-jukebox listing the song choices that were under consideration. "Don't Stop Believin'" plays in the background at the diner; in a nod to the Sopranos' finale, which featured the Journey song, Vince Curatola -- aka Johnny "Sack" Sacramoni -- makes a cameo, wandering by to make meaningful eye contact with the Clintons for a passing moment.

But once eager listeners get past the splash page and click through to hear the song, Clinton gets serious again. As Dion sings in the background, the text at the bottom of the screen reads, "We've had some fun with our campaign song, but the truth is that the stakes couldn't be higher in this election. If you're ready for change, the time to get involved is now, before the upcoming FEC deadline." A big red "contribute" button sits at the bottom.

More than a million people watched one of Clinton's two Web videos announcing the song contest, according to her press release. Dion's song got more than 200,000 votes.

Here are the complete lyrics (from unofficial site azlyrics.com):

High above the mountains, far across the sea

I can hear your voice calling out to me

Brighter than the sun and darker than the night

I can see your love shining like a light

And on and on this earth spins like a carousel

If I could travel across the world

The secrets I would tell.

[Chorus:]

You and I

Were meant to fly

Higher than the clouds

We’ll sail across the sky

So come with me

And you will feel

That we’re soaring

That we’re floating up so high

‘Cause you and I were meant to fly.

Sailing like a bird high on the wings of love

Take me higher than all the stars above

I’m burning, yearning

Gently turning round and round

I’m always rising up I never

Want to come back down.

[Chorus]

You and I

Were meant to fly

Higher than the clouds

We’ll sail across the sky

So come with me

And you will feel

That you and I were meant to fly.

You and I were meant to fly.
