News Roundup: Chertoff's Fears, Wall Street's Woes

Terrorism. Homeland Security Director Michael Chertoff told the Chicago Tribune today he has a "gut feeling" a terrorist attack could be in the works this summer.

Economy. The Dow plunged 148 points and the dollar fell to a record low against the pound today amid alarms over the housing market and retail sales.

Iraq. At least three people, including one American, were killed in a mortar attack on the heavily guarded Green Zone.

White House. Former Surgeon General Richard Carmona told a House panel this afternoon that the Bush administration censored his work on stem-cell research, family planning and sex education.

Pakistan. Radical cleric Abdul Rashid Ghazi was listed among the 60 dead in the ongoing siege of Pakistan's Red Mosque by government forces.
