Earlybird Roundup: Nussle Confirmation, D.C. Gun Ban

Administration. Australian Prime Minister John Howard declared support for the U.S. presence in Iraq and promised not to remove his country's troops during President Bush's visit to Australia this week.

Congress. Former Rep. Jim Nussle, R-Iowa, sailed through the Senate confirmation process to become the new director of the Office of Management and Budget.

World. China denied allegations yesterday that its military hacked into the Pentagon's computer system.

Courts. The District of Columbia asked the Supreme Court yesterday to overturn a recent appeals court decision striking down the citywide ban on handguns.

Nation. Hurricane Katrina victims still living in trailers will be allowed to move into hotels if they're worried about formaldehyde gas in their temporary homes, FEMA announced yesterday.
