The Year In Congress: An Overmatched Majority

Nancy Pelosi is sworn in as the first woman Speaker.The 110th Congress, led by Democratic House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, swooped into power in January with ambitious plans for change. But to paraphrase an old saying, the best-laid plans of the legislative branch often go awry... especially when there's a vocal and sizable minority standing in the way at nearly every turn.
