Earlybird Roundup: Bush's Mideast Trip, Lethal Injection Case

Administration. During his upcoming tour of the Middle East, President Bush will try to reassure U.S. allies that Iran is still considered a threat and visit Jerusalem. An American member of al-Qaida urged his group "to receive the Crusader slayer Bush... with bombs and booby-trapped vehicles."

SCOTUS. The justices will take up the constitutionality of lethal injections today and a voting rights case Wednesday.

Congress. Fast-growing Southern states could gain nine congressional seats after the next census.

Nation. California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger plans to announce a fiscal emergency this week.

Pakistan. President Pervez Musharraf said yesterday that his country is "not particularly" looking for Osama bin Laden because there is no evidence the al-Qaida leader is in Pakistan.
