Earlybird Roundup: Gul Visits D.C.; Padilla Lawyer Requests CIA Tapes

Administration. Turkish President Abdullah Gul will meet with President Bush at the White House today to discuss the situation with Kurdish rebels in northern Iraq.

Iraq. The Washington Post reports on new U.S. policies that are empowering Sunnis.

Mideast. Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert and Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas will hold peace talks on the eve of Bush's visit to Jerusalem and the West Bank.

Nation. Jose Padilla's lawyer asked a judge yesterday to disclose CIA tapes that could be relevant to his client's terrorism case.

Economy. Wall Street got nervous after Sunday's confrontation between Iranian and U.S. Navy ships in the Strait of Hormuz.
